About SATORI PORTRAIT

Satori is a Buddhist term for a sudden feeling of of inner understanding, enlightenment, epiphany, awakening, comprehension, and the experience of kensho which is seeing into ones true nature and essence.

My goal with a person I am photographing is to guide them to the place where they can easily reveal their true self. I aim to capture a moment that isn’t forced, pushed or coerced. I want my clients to simply be their most authentic self at that particular moment in time.

I want to guide you to be in contact with your soul- the light that is contained within your body. I want to contact that timeless part that is contained within you, within each of us, locating the awareness that is the animating energy of who you are and simply let it consciously shine through your eyes and through your skin as the shutter clicks. It’s a very simple goal, albeit difficult to achieve at times: to allow all of the conditioning to drop away for a moment. There are plenty of other elements that go into a good portrait, and we’ll often share a laugh or two in the process, but the most important aspect for me is to capture your soul portrait.
